Brief

Design a book cover based around a single letter that conveys the spirit of the book.

 

Concept and processes

Horrorstör by Grady Hendrix is a horror novel set in a large furniture shop built on the site of a nineteenth century prison - The Beehive - run by a sadistic warden.

 

Summing up an entire book with one letter was a fun and difficult challenge. The disintegrating H symbolises the world of the prison breaking through to disrupt the modern world. Eyes peer through the letters as prisoners and the warden start to make their presence known. In the background, The Beehive swirls...
